The Club puts on a a variety of social events through the year. In the past this has included quiz evenings, talks from guest speakers, and bonfire night.
The season kicks of with Buoyancy Day, members are encouraged to come along to get their boats tested and approved for use in the coming year. The galley is open for refreshments, and we also present trophies from the previous years racing. It's a great opportunity to dust off the sailing gear after a long dark winter.
In the summer we visit The Royal Yorkshire Yacht Club in Bridlington for a weekend of camping and sailing on the sea. This is a very popular family event, with a barbecue on the Saturday evening. We use the club camping/caravanning field which is only yards from the beautiful beach, and there are great facilities including a bar.
Launching and recovery is easy with the RYYC providing a tractor to tow boats back up the slip.
We also pay an annual weekend visit to Ullswater Yacht Club, with members camping and enjoying good company, good food and the fabulous facilities. Oh and also good sailing!
For both trips there is safety boat cover.
Bonfire night celebrations with food and bar take place later in the year at the sailing club.
