This year the club will be running the Spring RYA Safety Boat Course on the following days in May:
Saturday 10th May 2014
Sunday 18th May 2014
Saturday 24th May 2014
To be eligible for this course powerboat drivers must hold the RYA Level 2 Powerboat Certificate and be over 16 years of age. Further details can be found here on the RYA website:
http://www.rya.org.uk/coursestraining/courses/powerboat/Pages/Safetyboat.aspx
The course will lead to the award of the RYA Safety Boat Certificate and is intended to introduce course members to a range of well proven and simple safety boat techniques which cover the most commonly found rescue situations that might be experienced in RYA Training Centres. The course is highly practical and participants must be prepared and suitably equipped to enter the water during the training sessions.
Course numbers are limited to 6 candidates per course and the course fee will be £50* which includes the cost of the Safety Boat Certificate and a copy of the RYA Safety Boat Handbook and DVD.
*The £50 fee is a heavily discounted rate for club members and recognises that course members, once qualified, will be expected to make a commitment to supporting club safety boat duties. Level II powerboat drivers wishing to undertake this course should contact Tony Fellowes to express their interest.
